Subsystem (2018) is an exploration of urban spaces and their influence on human perception.

The relation between the architecture and it's surrounding alone, suggests a design of a subsystem of urban occurances that have the capacity to alter people's perception of space and the way one relates to and navigates the urban network.

Inspired by my photographic study of urban spaces in Japan, Abstraction (2017) focuses on interpreting spatial elements through a series of compositional analyses. These collages extrapolate form, white space and movement from actual architectural environments and recombine these elements into hypothetical conceptual spaces.

A functioning sculpture studio is a place where raw materials, completed work and objects-in-process coexist, inform and overcrowd one another creating an unique atmosphere.

Atmosphere (2017) is a series of drawings inspired by such a studio in its final dynamic phase prior to the artists vacating the space, which was subsequently demolished. Being present in, and photographing, the effects of this rapidly changing landscape of objects allowed me to perceive the atmosphere and incidental aesthetic of the space in transition. My photographs have become the basis of these drawings: the cropping, spatial compression, and the ambiguity of scale as translated by the camera all contribute to the actual objects of the space becoming an abstract form of object-architecture while preserving the memory of the atmosphere of the studio.
